This city is famous for its beautiful sea views and the characteristic “Piazzetta”, from which you can see the luxurious yachts docked at the port. Near the port you can admire the fascinating colored houses and, many shops and restaurants located under the typical arcades. If you like , you have the opportunity to see the Castle of Brown, a historical defensive structure and then noble seat of the city. Here you will have a breathtaking view of the sea!

Santa Margherita Ligure
Santa Margherita Ligure is a wonderful location near Portofino, easily reachable by train or by boat. Santa (so called by the citizens of the place) is home of many natural and historical beauties, such as various churches and castles. You can visit the most famous and fascinating churches of the city: "Santuario N.S. della Rosa" and "San Giacomo di Corte" that will bring you back to the ancient atmosphere of the 1600s . After that, strolling along the seafront, you will see the beautiful castle of Santa Margherita Ligure that rises right above the sea : a true marvel! This church takes its name from the handiwork that represents the Virgin Mary with a rose in a hand. The sanctuary was built in Baroque style in 1600. A very old church!

The church of Saint James was built in seventeenth century and is divided in three naves and in the center there is the statue of Saint James. The area was spectacular and the views amazing, if you have the opportunity it is a real gem to see and experience in person. Be aware though, it’s really expensive so be prepared. The only issue with the tour, it’s not worth the money. We walked for over 2 hours and seen the sites of Portofino and then took a boat ride to Margarite which was pretty and walked around this area. Hardly worth the $500+.
